What! No fancy server push graphics! No Java! Why am I doing this? Well, I am a firm believer in HTML purity, and in the conservation of internet bandwidth. I want a person accessing my pages from a modem to notice no long waiting period, and thus, I have chosen to limit my "neat gadgets". Besides, they serve no real purpose. Sure, a page should look stylish, but not at the sacrifice of speed. I suppose a good rule of thumb to follow is: if it helps you communicate, then use it, if not, then skip it, unless it is really, really small. I hope you agree, and if you do, a good place to learn more about coding proper HTML is The Ten Commandments of HTML FAQ (this is a mirror, as the original site is gone).
You may also have noticed that recently I have removed most of the non-critical tables from these pages. This is an effort to be compatiable with all browsers.
You can find some information about my current doings here, and I will update this page as time permits. Reload often, this site is going to be changing very quickly. Most of the new stuff recently has been in the humor section. I'm putting most of my time there right now, so check it out!
I've constructed this web page with variable-width web browsers in mind. Unless you have sized your browser down *very* small, everything should appear normally.
In case you were wondering, the editors I have used in the creation of these web pages were: GNU Emacs, Xemacs (the merger of Xemacs and the one formerly known as Lucid Emacs), vi, and xjed. I find Xemacs's HTML syntax highlighting helpful for seeing the overall layout of the document, and yet sometimes annoying. However, the speed of vi is a very useful thing...and it isn't so bad once you know how to use it. I also used this site to refresh my memory on some commands.
