I have a decent plan. I get 250 anytime minutes, and 1250 off-peak minutes, which is far more than I need, for $35 a month. Included in this is free long distance, which I find is kind of liberating; I'm starting to know more and more people who are long-distance calls away, and calling them is theoretically easy with this. I use the cellphone as my primary phone line, though I give out my land line number to businesses so I don't have to deal with them unless I want to. This means I can also take advantage of having Sprint be my long distance provider for my land line; they waive the $5/mo fee since I'm a SprintPCS customer. And since I don't ever use my home phone anymore, now that I have a cable modem, it costs very little, and I don't have to deal with telemarketers.
The point of this aside, though, is not just to provide some information about my setup, but also to grouse over a couple problems with the service. Generally, it's pretty good, nice and cheap. There are areas where there is less coverage than I like, but they've been improving over time. There are times when voice mail/text messages won't show up for a long while after they've been sent. The biggest fault, though, is the web page. I have run into it being down so many times that I must assume they don't put a very high priority on it. That would probably be reasonable, since it's far less important than having telephone coverage, but still, it's very annoying.
Another note: anyone notice that cellphone construction is starting to get worse? My Nokia 6185 is falling apart, and I've not had it for that long, maybe a couple years. I figure they must be turning up the "planned obsolescence" bit now that cellphones are becoming so popular.
